So as some of you know I took my Doula Course with Dona International in Victoria early November and decided to jump right into getting certified. So I purchased my certification packet, printed it off and rounded up a couple free clients. One of which was Nicole Viejou. After waiting for 10 days after her due date I finally received the call at 2:30 am on Dec 14th that her bag of waters had broke and she was starting to have contractions. Far too excited to go back to sleep I drove to her and Jonathan's house and begin a journey that lasted until Dec 15th at 12:07am when little Nova was born.
I am so beyond proud of Nicole, she did not have a short or easy labour but she was a champion and Jonathan was such an incredible and loving husband. He was constantly helping in any way and whispering words of encouragement in her ear.
Having photographed births before I really thought I would be prepared for being a doula but this experience was entirely different. I can't even explain how amazing birth is, or how it makes you feel but when I got to hold Nova my ovaries ached. She is the most precious being and I love her so much... and she isn't even mine. I will always have a special place in my heart for this beautiful family of three for letting me be a part of their birth experience and for them being my first clients as a doula.
