Another session from Watson Lake, Yukon. So funny I've spent my entire life thinking I disliked Watson and thought it was depressing to be in. But after a couple 4-5 days there I found myself loving the community and the people in it. I was introduced to Johnny and Carly through mutual friends and couldn't resist asking them if they would like a session. I asked them if they could write something up for me about themselves and here's what I got back. "John and I met in Lethbridge in 2006. I was in my 2nd year of Psychology at the University of Lethbridge, while John was part of a construction crew working on The UOFL. We met at a local pub playing pool through some friends. We ended up spending 3 months together before I headed back to the Yukon to work for the summer, in Watson Lake where I grew up. We did long distance for 4 months until I returned to school. The following summer John decided to come up to the Yukon for those 4 months instead of us spending that time apart. That was when his love for the Yukon started to grow. We ended up getting married and starting our family in Lethbridge but moved to Watson Lake together in 2011. We had Wyatt already who was turning 3, and Olivia who just turned 2. Two amazing gifts from God who enrich our lives every day!
We closed and left behind three businesses because of legal and financial reasons (story for another day). A huge hardship that has followed us until present day but one that has helped us grow stronger as a couple and family! It is not our success that defines us but the hurdles we have overcome along the way that have made us who we are today! We currently own a large piece of Land in Upper Liard (Watson Lake area), past the golf course and along the river. We love where we live and are happy to raise our children out here. They get to learn about the land, the plants and animals all through their back yard. They take the bus to school and are happy little campers 😉. John currently works on our ranch, getting it ready for livestock and takes whichever entrepreneurial opportunities come his way, while I spend my time helping him, raising our kids and working on my artwork. I enjoy my pencil drawn portraits and will occasionally do tattoo designs for people. I have my apprenticeship as a tattoo artist and many many hours running a tattoo gun but am not currently running a shop. (A future endeavour)."
